Christmas Challenge 3- Christmas Acrostic Poetry

Hi 4H,

Your Christmas challenge 3 is:-

To create an acrostic poem about CHRISTMAS

Remember, an acrostic poem is one where each line of the poem starts with a letter in the word (e.g. the first line would start with C, second line H etc).

You can create the poem using any Christmas related word or phrase- you could use Christmas, Christmas Eve, Father Christmas, Reindeer etc etc :)

If you take part in this challenge and post your work either as a post, or in the comments,  I’ll award you a bonus 10 HP :)

I can’t wait to read your super poetry!

Mr H :)

2011

This Week- Starting 14th November.

Hi 4H!

I hope you have all had a super weekend!  :)

After a ‘gap’ last week caused by the maths weekend I was on, here is our regular run-down of what we will be up to this week!  As always there are a few house points, merits and TC’s hidden in our run-down!

Bits and pieces.

  • Don’t forget, we are swimming on TUESDAY- you need to come to school with your costume/trunks/shorts on underneath your uniform, and remember your towel, swimming hat etc :)
  • Homework (a grid) will be set on Tuesday.
Carousel.
Carousel will continue as normal.  But we will have a bit of an altered carosuel on Monday as we’re going to make some time to welcome Adam to 4H and catch up on a few bits and pieces.   But this week:-
  • In Phonics/Spelling we’ll be working on your ‘oa’ sounds, focusing on the o__e split digraph.  A TC  and 10 HP to anyone who can give me 5 0__e words which aren’t in your spelling list for this week :)
  • In calculations, we’ll be having a ‘blitz’ on mental calculations- addition, subtraction, and partitioning (5HP if you can remind me what partitioning is in the comments!)
Here is what we’ll be up to each day.
Monday:-
Whole school assembly followed by carousel will start our day.
Then:-
  • Writing for a purpose- we’ll be focusing on creating a poster for our production of Cinderella Rockefella- today we’ll be looking at what we can learn from lots of other posters, and starting to create the text for our own. Can you remind me of 3 different techniques people can use to persuade you? A TC if you can!
  • Real Life Maths- we’ll be focusing on time, some of you will be solving some problems, whilst the rest will be working with me to create a ‘cheat’ clock.  Remember, if you have a analogue watch (one with hands) please wear it this week, but please do not wear a digital watch.
  • In the afternoon, we’ve got our first run through of Cinderella Rockefella in the hall.  See this post for a reminder of what we need you to have done!  I can’t wait to see how we are getting along!
Tuesday.
  • We are swimming first- please be at school ON TIME as we will leave straight at 8:50.
  • In Writing for a purpose- we’ll be looking at the layout of our posters and finishing off drafting the text etc .
  • In Real Life Maths, we’ll be solving some problems involving time, and some of you will be turning into teachers and planning some teaching which you’ll deliver to the whole class on Thursday!
  • In the afternoon we’re going to start off with some RE/Philosophy, looking at important people + events.  Then we’ll be joined by 4B for some song practice.
Wednesday.
Singing assembly followed by carousel will start of our day today. Then…
  • Writing for a purpose-  will take up the rest of the morning as we produce our posters :)
  • In the afternoon we’ll be continuing our look at sound. Don’t forget to think about the questions we set at the end of last Wednesday:-
  • Can you hear underwater?  What do you notice? The bath is a good place to try this out!  Does it make any difference if your ear is against the side of the bath?
  • Would you be able to hear if you were in space with little air?
Thursday
Celebration assembly and then carousel to start.
  • Real life maths will take up the rest of the morning as we investigate how we can work out time differences and calcuate involving time.
  • Then you will have PE and German as usual in the afternoon.
Friday
REMEMBER it’s Children in Need today!
Whole school  assembly and then an altered carousel will start the day.
  • Real Life Maths- we’ll be introducing different ways to calculate multiplication sums like 22×6 or 47 x 3 -but if you can give me a method in the comments by Thursday I’ll give you a merit!
  • Writing for a purpose- we’ll be exploring how we can persuade people by writing letters :)
  • Then PE + Golden time etc as normal :)
So that’s it- another fun week ahead for 4H :)
See you all on Monday!
Mr H :)

Challenge 2- Make something yummy!

Hi,

I know how much you all love sweet things and how most of you love baking and cooking!

So I thought for this half term challenge I’d give you a good excuse to have some fun in the kitchen :-)

I’ve put some recipes below which you could try and make- but I’ve somehow manage to get my units of measure all in a muddle!  You’ll need to convert some of the measurements into units that you can use (ever tried weighing out flour in mg?  As an example if it asked for 0.2KG of sugar, you would convert that into 200g of sugar!)

As well as being excellent fun (as cooking always is!) this is a really good reminder ready for the work we’ll be doing in Maths in the first few weeks of the new half term on measures, and converting units.  You may need to do a search on-line to remind yourself how many of each unit is equal to each other!  [A few of you may not have come across mg - mg = milligram- there are 1000 milligrams in one gram (1000mg=1g) ]  Just cooking in itself is a really great way to practice the key skills of measuring, reading scales and estimating weights! [and we'll be doing some cooking in maths next half term!]

If you can provide some form of ‘proof’ (maybe a photo ) that you’ve used one of the recipes below then you’ll gain a 2 merits and 5 HP.  Make sure you comment to let me know if you are planning to try some cooking!

For an extra challenge (or instead of using one of the recipes below)- do you have a favourite recipe that you love making? Share it in the comments below with ‘mixed up’ units  and you’ll gain a 1TC and 5HP :-)   (and who knows, if something sounds really yummy I may try and make it myself :-) )

Make sure you ALWAYS get an adult to help you when you are cooking- I want you all back, burn and injury free on Monday ;-)

Have fun Cooking!

So here are the recipes!

Number 1- Chocolate Heaven !  (One of my favourite things to make, and 5H/6W’s favourite too!)

This is very naughty and contains lots of chocolate- but I think it tastes great!  It’s really easy to make as it doens’t involve putting anything in the oven!   [And just to prove I'm being fair and doing some of the challenges too- a picture of  my attempt of this one is below ;-)  Writing club members will get to sample this recipe on Tuesday (hopefully!)]

You will need:-

For the base:-

  • 0.1Kg Margarine softened
  • 6 tablespoons Golden syrup
  • 250g  Cooking Chocolate (milk)
  • A fifth of a KG (divide 1 KG by 5!)  of Digestive Biscuits. roughly crushed
  • 0.2 KG Maltesers cut roughly in half (or less than half) (tip-  get an adult to hit the bag of malteasers with a rolling pin a few times first- and then cut up any remaining full malterasers- you don’t want the maltereasers to just be crumbs though!  You’ll need an adults help to cut them up as they are quite hard!)

For the topping

  • A bar (about 0.15KG) of milk chocolate- galaxy works best- but it’s up to you!
  • Some extra malteasers- kept whole
  • Optional Marshmallows, cherries and other sweet things!

What to do:-

Add the margarine, syrup and chocolate to a big saucepan and with an adults help melt margarine and syrup and chocolate over heat on a hob.

When it’s all melted, take off the heat and  and add in the crushed biscuits and maltesers- it’s really important to make sure it’s mixed really well!

Line a tin (a shallow tin, like one you would make Swiss rolls, or flatjack in works best!) with either grease proof paper or foil and grease the tin.

Spread the yummy mixture into the tin.

Leave to settle for about 600 seconds.  Whilst you are waiting you can start melting the chocolate for the topping- either over the hob or in the microwave.

Spread the chocolate out over the top of the mixture. Add the whole malteasers and any other sweet things you have brought to the top.

Chill in the fridge (will take at least 180 minutes)  then cut up into small squares. Keep in the fridge!

Number 2- Butterfly Cakes

I used to love making these when I was your age!  I’m sure lots of you have made these or atleast eaten them before- but here is one easy way to make them!

You will need:-

For the cakes
2 medium eggs
0.11KG / 4oz self-raising flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
110g / 4oz butter (soft)
110,000mg / 4oz sugar

For the Butter Icing:-

170,000mg  Icing Sugar.
0.085kg / 3oz butter (soft)
3 drops of vanilla extract (optional)
1 tablespoon of milk

What to do:-

- Pour all the ingredients for the cakes (not the Butter Icing ingredients) into a bowl and start mixing!

- Preheat the oven to 170 C / 325 F / Gas Mark 3.

- Place the cake cases in a cake tray.

-Continue mixing until all the ingredients are well mixed together.

Use a spoon to fill each cake case about half to two thirds full with cake mixture.

Get an adult to place the baking tray in the pre-heated oven (170 C / 325 F / Gas Mark 3). and ask them to put it in the middle of the oven and cook for 30 minutes.

Do not open the oven door for at least 20 minutes. If you do, the cakes may well collapse. They are cooked when golden brown.

Leave the cakes to cool slighlty

Ask an adult to help you cut of the top of each cake.  Cut the bit you have sliced off into 2 (you’ll use these later!)

Place all the ingredients for the butter icing in a large bowl and stir for about five minutes until all the ingredients are mixed well together.

Place about a teaspoon full of the butter icing on top of each cake. Then push the “wings” that you made earlier from the top of the cake into the butter icing.

More decorations can be placed on the cake depending on what you have!

Recpie 3-  Yummy Chocolate Flapjack!

You will need:-

80g / 3oz soft brown sugar

0.11Kg  cooking margarine (like Stork)

1 quarter of a KG of oats  (e.g. porridge)

110,000 mg / 4oz dark chocolate

3 tablespoons of golden syrup

a pinch of salt

What to do:-

Get an adult to help you put the  margarine in a pan over a low heat and stir until it’s melted.

Add the sugar and golden syrup to the pan (be careful- the pan will be hot!) and stir until it is all dissolved (can you remember what that word means?) into a sticky liquid.

Pre-heat the oven to 200°C / 400°F / Gas Mark 6
Take the pan off the heat and add the oats, stirring them in with a spoon. It’s easier to add the oats bit by bit.
If the mixture thickens too much ask an adult to heat the mixture a bit more.

Add the salt and give a final stir. Spoon the mixture into a non-stick tray and spread it out evenly.

Place the baking trays in the pre-heated oven. Remove after 18 minutes (check after 12 minutes) when the flapjacks have turned a light golden brown.
Leave to cool for 5 minutes then cut into slices, but leave the slices in the tray.

Cover the flapjacks and place in the fridge for an hour.

Melt the chocolate (eithier in the microwave or in a bowl placed over water on the hob)

Pour the chocolate over the flapjacks as evenly as possible and place them in the fridge for an hour.

Have fun cooking 4H!  Writing these out has made me feel very hungry, and it’s only early in the morning!   I think I’m going to have to go and bake something else yummy now! :-)

Don’t forget to share your own ‘mixed up measures’ recipes!

Mr H :-)

Summer Challenge 6- Writing Selection Box

Hi 4H!

Wow- by the time you read this you’ll be in the last full week of the summer holidays!  I hope you have had a great time so far and the you enjoy the last bit of the holiday.  The website will be coming to ‘life’ properly as we approach the start of term with all sorts of things and information etc- so make sure you keep an eye on it :-)

So onto Summer Challenge 6- which will be our last ‘proper’ challenge.

This week, I wanted to give you a bit of a ‘selection box’ to choose from- all of which have *something* to do with writing- so here goes…

Instructions

I know in year 3 you did some super work on writing instructions- for this challenge I’d like you to write a set of instructions for something.

You can write instructions for ANYTHING you would like.  It could be for something ‘real’ or something made up.  You could write instructions for the perfect summer break, the best birthday etc, or tell us how to make something (perhaps you’ve done some crafty things this holiday).  You could also write a recipe for your favourite thing to cook/bake.

Infact, as long as it’s telling people how to do/make something- then you can write it :-)

I’d love to see what you come up with!  Just put your instructions in the comments.

100 Word Challenge.

If you haven’t already taken part in last weeks writing challenge, then why not give it a go?  It’ll be great ‘practice’ for the 100 word challenges we’ll be taking part in over the next year.

Super Description

For this challenge, I’d like you to write a paragraph that contains as much SUPER description as you can squeeze in.  You could describe anything- a summers day, the park full of children, the beach etc- but you should aim to make your reader feel like they are there by your writing.

It doesn’t need to be long- just full of super description.  I can’t wait to read what you write- just post it in the comments :-)

Poetry

This week, you could also choose to show off your poetry skills again.  Why not write a poem- it can be any topic, theme or style. Perhaps you could see our other poetry themed challenge for inspiration?

‘Quotation’ Art.

The last option this week is a bit different and combines ‘writing’ with art.   I’d like you to find or think of a ‘saying’ or ‘quote’ that you like, find funny or interesting etc.  Your challenge then is to use sumopaint  to create a piece of art that represents the quote.  You can even use the text tool in sumopaint to add the quote to your image (remember you can also upload a photo you have found on-line to sumopaint to use as the base of your creating if you’d like!).  For help on using Sumopaint see our last art challenge  and some examples of what you could do can be found here and here.   [To send the piece of art to me so I can add it to this website, just save it to your computer and e-mail it to mrh@mrhandley.co.uk or thandley2jrq@nsix.org.uk]

Of course, there are merits etc on offer.

This week, for each challenge you take part in you will earn 5HP and half a merit.  If you manage to do 4 of the above I’ll even reward you with an extra merit- this means you could earn up to 3 merits and 20HP this week :-)

Have fun!

Mr H :-)

Summer Challenge 5- Our own 100 Word Challenge

Hi 4H/5H,

Wow- when you read this you’ll be entering the 5th week of your summer break!  I hope you have all been having a good time and having fun, resting etc!  It’s not long now till we get back to school and 4H start the super year we have planned, and 5H finally become 6W (boo :-( – but I’m sure you’ll have a super year too!).

Each week during term time, Mrs Skinner (who is an retired head teacher who visits our website (and lots of others too) lots and comments on your super work) runs something called the 100 Word Challenge which challenges children across the country to write a piece of creative writing that has exactly 100 words in it.   5H enjoyed taking part in the challenges last year, and I hope 4H will take part next year too!

I thought we could have our own mini- 100 word challenge this week.  So your challenge this week is to write a piece of creative writing that contain all of the following words somewhere within it…

boiling, castle, sparkling, purple

These words can be anywhere in your writing- they do not have to be together!  You have exactly 100 words!

The piece of writing should be creative- so think very carefully about the words you are using as well as the usual things like punctuation etc..

Before you post, try and check you have included:-

* Correct spellings! * A range of vocabulary  (words) used

and if you can…  *Paragraphs, commas and a wide range of other punctuation

Post your writing in the comments below, and I’ll add them to the ‘our work’ section of the website.

Take part in this challenge to earn yourself a merit and 10 HP! (and a TC too for 4H!)

I can’t wait to read your super writing!

Summer Challenge 4- More super maths

Hi 4H/5H!

The challenge this week is in 2 parts- both of which are hopefully pretty simple-

1) Play some maths games on Sumdog.

2) Tell me as many different questions that could have the answer 79 as possible!

I’m away in Italy this week (in fact, I’ll be there when your reading this!), so the challenges this week are set up so that they can take place without me doing anything ;-)

Sumdog

Log in to sumdog, and you’ll find another challenge waiting for you.  Simply play some maths games as part as this challenge, and you’ll get the rewards below

  • Answer at least 100 questions for 2 HP
  • Answer at least 200 questions for 4 HP
  • Answer at least 500 questions for 10 HP
  • Answer over 800 questions for a merit
  • Answer over 1000 questions for a merit and 10HP

2. If the answer is 79, what could the question be?

This challenge is something that 4H will get used to doing next year.

I simply want to know as many questions that have the answer 79 as possible.

These could be maths related, but they don’t have to be.

Share the questions that have the answer 79 on this linoit (being sure to add your name in the ‘tag’ section of the sticky notes you add)

If you add atleast 10 questions, you’ll get yourself 10HP.

I’ll also award a merit to the person who adds the  most questions and another 2 merits to the person who adds the most ‘interesting’ question.

You can also take part in any of the other challenges so far- there are no ‘end dates’ for the challenges :-)

Have fun with some super maths!

Mr H :-)

Summer Challenge 3- Digital Art and Cartoons.

Hey!

Hope you are having a great break so far!  What have you been up to?

After a poetry inspired challenge this week, I thought we’d go ‘arty’ for this weeks challenge!

4H, as you may have picked up by now (and as 5H know)- I like to use lots of great on-line tools and websites with you to help us show our learning in different ways (and to have some fun too!)- and this 2 part challenge uses 2 websites which I think are super!

1. Digital art- using SUMOPAINT

Your first challenge is to create a piece of art on the computer, using a website called sumopaint.

To get started, just click on the big ‘open sumopaint’ button at the top.  You don’t need to create an account.  Once it loads you should see lots of super tools and options available to you-  have an explore!

Your piece of art should be ‘summer’ inspired/based in some way.

I’m not going to restrict you as to what type of art you can produce- simply explore sumopaint and have fun seeing what you can make.

A few different types of art that 5H produced using sumopaint last year can be found here, and here, and here and here.

If you would like to create a piece of art that uses a picture as it’s base (like a lot of the examples above- in the menus in sumopaint, especially effects and filters, you can do some super things to a picture) you can find some instructions I wrote for 5H within this post to help you.

To share your piece of art you’ll need to download it (go ti file–>save to computer in sumo paint) and then e-mail it to me (or get a parent to e-mail it) at either mrh@mrhandley.co.uk or thandley2jrq@nsix.org.uk.   (5H, if you can rememebr how you can add it to a post yourself by logging in.) I’ll then upload them to the website for you to share with everyone else.

Create a piece of digital art and you’ll get 1 merit and 8HP :-)

If you have any questions about sumopaint, post them in the comments below, and either I or one of 5H will try and help!

2. Toondo

Another great website is Toondo, which lets you create your own comic strips online. Some examples of what can be made can be found here.

Your challenge is to simply create a cartoon strip about anything you want.

Toondo requires an account (but it’s easy to create) and might look a bit complicated to start of with, but trust me, it is easy to use!  I wrote a guide for 5H last Christmas here, which should help you get started and talk you though how to create an account.

To share your toondo, click on save, and select ‘share with friends’ and enter mrh@mrhandley.co.uk when it asks you for your ‘friends’ e-mail address. I’ll then get e-mailed the cartoon which I’ll add to the website for you.

Create and share atleast one toondo, and you’ll get 2merits and 10HP!

Have fun creating some art and cartoons!

Mr H :-)

Summer Challenge 2- Super Poetry

Hi 4H/5H!

Hope you have all enjoyed your first week of the summer break! I bet it has flown by!

I’ll post at some point over the next week the results of our first challenge- the Sumdog competition (this post is written in advance, so I don’t the results yet!).   But here is your next challenge:-

Write a poem that is ‘summer’ themed.

Now I know how super lots of 5H are at poetry, and I bet lots of the new 4H are super too- so I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

You can write any style of poem that you like- it could be a ‘normalrhyming poem, a non-rhyming poem, a metaphor poem, an acrostic (which must be 5H’s favourite type of poem!),or any other type!  (4H, If you click on the links in that last sentence you’ll find some examples from 5H over the past year!)

To share your poem with me, just post it in the comments here (or 5H, if you can remember your log-ins, post it as a post yourself!) and I’ll add it to the ‘our work’ section of the website.

If you write a poem, you’ll get yourself 10HP and 1 merit. (and I’ll throw in a TC (teacher credit, all will be revealed at the start of term 4H!) for 4H too)

Go on, amaze me with your poetry skills- I can’t wait!

Mr H :-)

So long, (not quite farewell!)- part 1- practical stuff!

Hi 5H,

So, our time together has come to an end :-(  It’s been a great year, and I’m going to post a separate post looking back over the past year etc shortly, but wanted to get the ‘practical’ things ‘out of the way’ first!

This Website

WOW- did you know that this year, this website has been viewed 36,668 times and you have all left 3,3,75 comments!

I’m SO pleased that you have all got involved in the site, and I do hope you have found it useful, fun and generally a good thing to have.

I am VERY keen not to ‘loose’ you, or push you out from the site- so I want to say straight way that you are more than welcome (infact, I want to encourage you to) visit the website over the summer and next year, and to get involved, comment and generally be ace like you are this year!  So please don’t feel like you can’t do anything because you are no longer in my class.

The site will obviously change over the summer- none of your work, posts or anything from this year will vanish though- it’ll just get moved into a separate part of the site, which you will be able to access through the menu’s and/or by searching.

Your accounts will stay active- and if you want to, you can still write posts, share work etc…   Your log-ins for Sumdog, aviary etc will also still work.  And I will still give you any HP’s or Merits I offer!

But whether you decide to still add work, posts etc- still do drop by and comment- 4H will love to see you around!   Music/Art of the week will be starting back up again in September, and it’ll be especially great to have your super responses- you have got so good at responding to music/art that I would love for you to show 4H the ropes!  If you want to choose 4H’s first ever music/art of the week, let me know- It’d be great for us to have the first one (or first few) ‘chosen’ by 5H!  It’d also be great to get year 6′s comments (that’s you lot!) on my new year 4′s work throughout the year!

I’d also like you to be around on the website over the summer- but more on that below…

Summer challenges

I’m posting a challenge a week on the website over the summer break- this is partly to get some of 4H used to using the website etc- and, of course, to give people something to do if they get bored (I remember the summer holiday’s when I was your age well- great for the first few weeks, boring after!)

I’d love for you to take part in some/all of them too if you want!  So check out the website and have a go- the first one will appear this Saturday.

I’m also going to ask 4H to ask any questions/tell me what they are worried about etc about next year on a linoit and in the comments to a post- and it’d be great if you would be willing to keep an eye on these and add your thoughts to anything 4H ask/say- afterall, you all know me and have had me for a year (now just remember to tell them I’m really mean, never give out any merits or HP… ;-) ;-) ;-) ) - so you are in a good position to answer anything!  You’ll see a post to 4H about this at the start of next week, and if you reply to anything they say, I’ll give you 4HP for each reply, and a few merits if you reply to a few! (so you can start of the year with merits/HP’s already!)

Messages for 4H

Some of you asked if you could leave messages for 4H- I’d love you to, and did put up a linoit for it a few weeks ago-

the link to it is here-  so feel free to add messages for 4H!

Clubs next year

Well, OK, I say I’m saying goodbye to you, but I have a feeling I’ll still see lots of most of you in the different clubs etc- just so you know, next year I’m planning on…

  • Keep Twist N’ Turn going- T+T (as the staff are starting to call them!) already know about this- this will be on Monday and Friday lunchtimes.
  • Running writing club again (there is NO WAY I wouldn’t after the amazing writing you did last year!)- which will be open to year 5 and 6 again (with a few year 4′s invited)- and I know lots of you want to get involved this year-we’ll have out first meeting in the middle of September- but it’s never too early to get thinking about plot ideas etc (but remember, the rules say you can’t start to write it till November!)
  • Running a drama club-something I never got round to this year- but this will be after Christmas.
  • ICT club will run again at some point too- and will be open to year 5+6
Plus, I’m sure I’ll end up deciding to do more, most of which you’ll be able to join.
So that’s most of the practical stuff out of the way- of course, any questions or if I have missed anything, just leave a comment!
Mr H :-)

This week- the LAST week of year 5- lots of TC’s and merits here!

Hi 5H,

So we are about to enter the LAST week in year 5 and as 5H (sniff!)-  like all good things, our time together sadly has to come to an end- but we have a super, if slighlty crazy week planned so that we can ‘end’ in style!

This is the last time I’ll be writing one of these ‘this week’ posts for you- therefore if you see this and comment (with anything) by Tuesday morning I’ll give you a merit and TC ;-)

I’m also going to give away lots of merits and TC’s this week- starting with this…

I’d love to know you favourite 3 things from the year (I’ve got a plan to use them for something at the end of this week!)- if you comment with your favourite 3 things by Wednesday I’ll give you your choice of either 3 TC’s, 3 Merits of 20 HP.

ALSO

If there is anything you would especially like to do next week, comment and let me know (for a merit or TC!).

So back onto the ‘normal’ things- here is what I have in store for you for your LAST week in 5H.

As a general note, you are going to be getting LOTS of your FAB work back this week for you to take home- it will be really helpful if you can bring in an extra bag to put it in, and be prepared to be given some of your A2 (large) art work too (probably on Wednesday).

On Monday:-

In the morning, we’ll be doing lots of work based on our Lunar Theme Park project.  We’ll finally get to start making you some money, and you’ll have some big choices to make!  Later on in the morning, we’ll be using some of our super English skills in a mission linked to the theme park too.

In the afternoon, we’ll be trying to finish our life cycles work- looking at how pollination happens and how seeds are spread.

I hope to do lots of TC draws and generally have a fun day (it is my birthday after all ;-) ).

There is NO band afterschool but I do want to meet with band at lunchtime.

On Tuesday

It’s SPORTSDAY- so remember to come in your PE kit (house colours, clean, neat and tidy please! ;-) ).  I’m really hoping the weather forecast changes so that we are not rained off!

Around sportsday we’ll be doing some more lunar work, and also getting some of our classroom ready so we can hand it over to the new 5W!

I’m really looking forward to sportsday- the last 2 sportsday’s I have been involved in my house has won- so will the mightly Maple let me carry on this ‘winning’ streak?!?

There IS ICT club afterschool, as normal.

Wednesday.

In the morning, we’ll be starting to draw out lunar work to a close, and this will also involve another super English based challenge.  In the afternoon, we’ll be either finishing of the life cycles work (if we don’t get it done on Wednesday), sorting out your work and/or having a bit of extra reward time. You have music as normal with Mrs Ribbons.

Thursday.

In the morning, we have a big assembly and then will be doing a bit more lunar work, and what will probably be our last problem solving of the year.

In the afternoon, I really want to take you into the nature area for one last time- so please make sure you have long trousers and trainers with you.

Friday

The last day of 5H/This term!

We may be in another assembly (the year 6 leaving assembly) first thing. Then we’ll be finishing off our lunar theme park and finding out who has won!  In the afternoon, we’ll have some special things planned for us as we spend the last afternoon as 5H and we look back on this year, and forward into what I’m sure will be an amazing year as 6W!

And then it’ll be time for us to say goodbye (although obviously I’ll see you all next year!) and to take a well earned break- hasn’t this year gone quick!?!

Of course, needless to say I’ve got a few ‘surprises’ planned as well, and I really hope we can have a fun and enjoyable week :-)

See you all on Monday!

Mr H :-)
