Hope you are having a great break so far! What have you been up to?
After a poetry inspired challenge this week, I thought we’d go ‘arty’ for this weeks challenge!
4H, as you may have picked up by now (and as 5H know)- I like to use lots of great on-line tools and websites with you to help us show our learning in different ways (and to have some fun too!)- and this 2 part challenge uses 2 websites which I think are super!
1. Digital art- using SUMOPAINT
Your first challenge is to create a piece of art on the computer, using a website called sumopaint.
To get started, just click on the big ‘open sumopaint’ button at the top. You don’t need to create an account. Once it loads you should see lots of super tools and options available to you- have an explore!
Your piece of art should be ‘summer’ inspired/based in some way.
I’m not going to restrict you as to what type of art you can produce- simply explore sumopaint and have fun seeing what you can make.
A few different types of art that 5H produced using sumopaint last year can be found here, and here, and here and here.
If you would like to create a piece of art that uses a picture as it’s base (like a lot of the examples above- in the menus in sumopaint, especially effects and filters, you can do some super things to a picture) you can find some instructions I wrote for 5H within this post to help you.
To share your piece of art you’ll need to download it (go ti file–>save to computer in sumo paint) and then e-mail it to me (or get a parent to e-mail it) at either firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. (5H, if you can rememebr how you can add it to a post yourself by logging in.) I’ll then upload them to the website for you to share with everyone else.
Create a piece of digital art and you’ll get 1 merit and 8HP
If you have any questions about sumopaint, post them in the comments below, and either I or one of 5H will try and help!
Another great website is Toondo, which lets you create your own comic strips online. Some examples of what can be made can be found here.
Your challenge is to simply create a cartoon strip about anything you want.
Toondo requires an account (but it’s easy to create) and might look a bit complicated to start of with, but trust me, it is easy to use! I wrote a guide for 5H last Christmas here, which should help you get started and talk you though how to create an account.
To share your toondo, click on save, and select ‘share with friends’ and enter firstname.lastname@example.org when it asks you for your ‘friends’ e-mail address. I’ll then get e-mailed the cartoon which I’ll add to the website for you.
Create and share atleast one toondo, and you’ll get 2merits and 10HP!
Have fun creating some art and cartoons!
