BETT
BETT is a place in London where teachers from around the world go. It is on Wednesday the 11th to Saturday 14th of January. Mr Handley chose to take 5 children out of the whole school to go to BETT. Mr Handley chose me, and 4 year 6s. We were the only primary school that was chosen to present as part of the official program of events. I wanted to go and so did the 4 year 6's from Mr Handley's old class. We had to do 6 presentations at different stands. We practised for a lot of days before we had to go to BETT. We went to BETT on the Thursday. We all had to wake up at half past 6 or earlier. We got on a mini taxi then a train finally some undergrounds. We then had to walk a little.
Finally we were at BETT, it was ginormous. It had an upstairs, down stairs and everything. It had lots of different stands every where. We had a look around and got some badges and a bag from our first stand Brainpop. Then we had to do a Brainpop presentation there were lots of people watching us. Then we all went to sing a song at Scholastic where later in the day we did a presentation there too. The song was called 'Off across the Oggin' I had the microphone. Lots of people watched that too.
Then we went to get lunch. On the front of the sandwich packet it said 'cheese and ham panini' Inside it was coverd in MUSTARD. I hate mustard it is my worst nightmare!! I only ate a little of the panini that didn't have that much mustard on. I was starving.
We then rushed of to do our 3rd presentation which was our biggest, it was in a seperate room. It was part of the official LearnLIVE program of talks. WE had 250 people watching us. It went well. Although I got a little muddled with the paper because it was double sided. Then we had so many people asking questions we had to leave them all to rush and litterley run to our 4th stand- 'Google.'That went really well there were loads of people- but not quite 250.
After Google I found some beanbags and lay down on them- I was exhausted! We also played with some large touch screen tables it was awesome. Then we went to do our 5th presantation which was where we did 'off across the oggin'- Scholastic. We shared 18 different websites. We had a lot of people there too. We then got some books and played on some more touch screen tables and got some chocolate. We then walked to our last presentation called 2simple which is purple mash. We did'nt have that many people there.
Then we went back to Brainpop to get our coats and met Dr K who was the creator of Brainpop.
We then headed back to the underground to go home. But we were not going home just yet we stopped at Macdonalds to have some tea. It was far better than lunch. Then we all headed to our main train to go home. Some of us got to sleep and some not. Then we got on our Taxi to go back to school.
I hade a brilliant day all thanks to Mr Handley.

That’s a great blog post Bayleigh. You certainly had a busy time in at the BETT Show in London last week. Do you think schools should buy touch screen tables? What would you want to use them for?

Yes I would definitely like touch screen tables at school because I would use it at school for my work. I think it is a good idea because then all my learning will be stored in one place rather than having lots of different books for each subject. which can get lost or damaged. Also it would be good for the environment because then not so many trees would need to be cut down ! Thank you for your comment.

Well done Bayleigh. I’m so glad you all had a great day. I was following what was happening through Mr Handley & Twitter. I went to BETT on Friday so we just missed each other. Maybe next year we’ll meet up! Well done again!

Wow Bayleigh! What a fantastic post! It sounds to me like you had an exciting but VERY exhausting day. I’ve never been to BETT, but I think I might get lost if it’s as ginormous as you say.
I bet you had to do more presentations than all of the adults there – six in one day is loads!
I’m guessing that this experience you had you will remember for ever. Well done to you, the 4 year 6′s and Mr Handley.

Hi Bayleigh. Thanks for your talk, I was one of the people you had to run away from after your LearnLive talk. I was really impressed with your confidence, and it was great to hear from you and a parent how you have been using this website.
You and the other children you were with were like rock stars, being chaperoned from one high profile talk to another.
I enjoyed reading your write up, it was easy to follow a complicated set of events, and had some good explanations of how you felt about them. It is hard to write about things like this without them becoming a bit of a list. You have managed to do this quite a bit, and I think next time you could make it even better by trying to use the word ‘then’ even less.
A really interesting post though, I will share it with people I know.

Thank you for watching us on learn live sorry we had to rush off. I will try to not use the word THEN as often, thanks for the advice.

Hi Bayleigh,
I’m glad you enjoyed BETT, I did too! I can imagine how tired you were, I was exhausted and I hadn’t had to do any presentations.
I saw your LearnLive presentation and I was very impressed with the work you are doing on your blog. I have “magpied” some of the ideas and hopefully they will help the children in my class use the blog more.
Keep blogging, you are doing a great job!

Dear Bayleigh,
What a fantastic blog post about your day at BETT.
I’m the one who introduced your school onto the Scholastic stand. You were all really good (even Mr Handley!) and you could tell you had practised your presentation. I have used some of the eighteen tools before, but not all of them, so I’m quite excited to give them a go!
Thank you very much again!
Chris

Bayleigh, this is a great post, you have explained your exciting day in detail, I can understand why you had such an ‘awesome’ time.
Visiting BETT was a wonderful learning opportunity for you and a fun day out. I enjoyed reading posts during the day and seeing the pictures of you all.
Well done xx

Bayleigh, I have just read your write up on the BETT show you went to last Thursday. When i was 9 years old, I didn’t have any of the technology you have today. It is wonderful you have all these opportunities and most of all enjoying what you are doing.
You never stop learning Bayleigh, as you know Nannie is still trying to learn how to use my laptop.
Once again, well done to you Bayleigh, Betsie, Fiona, Trafford and Jack.

Hey Bayleigh,
Awesome write up! Thought you had an amazing day – you looked tired but happy at the end.
Dr K was very honoured to meet you and that you chose our stand to do your presentation. We’ll be blogging it on the BrainPOP blog as it was too good not to share with BrainPOP kids all round the world.
Thank you for hanging with Moby & the BrainPOP crew, you’re welcome anytime
Chris
